Analysis of the provision of social and cultural infrastructure facilities and services in the Upper Franconia West planning region (2019-2020)

In the planning region of Upper Franconia-West (one of 18 planning regions in Bavaria), the regional plan chapters "Education, Cultural Affairs" and "Social and Health Services" were due for updating. The planning region was supported by S&W through a survey and analysis of the stock of services of general interest and the implementation of accessibility analyses - scenarios.

The services of general interest were assessed taking into account demand, demographic and population structure factors and equipment guidelines. By means of accessibility analyses, current and future supply gaps were identified, and locations of particular strategic importance for supply close to home and density centres with good accessibility were worked out as possible settlement focal points.

With the help of these results, measures to secure and improve the supply situation were developed and laid down in the regional plan as objectives and principles.
